“Our raving fans have been requesting a Dayton location for as long as we can remember, and when the opportunity to move into the space across from Day Air Ballpark in the growing entertainment district presented itself, we knew the time was right,” said marketing manager Katie McDermid.
Construction on the Dayton location is expected to kick off soon with a grand opening planned for late 2025.
What to expect
Customers can expect “New York-style inspired pizza by the slice, along with a few other items ranging from the “of course they’ll have that in a pizza shop” to the very unexpected rotating pizza-of-the-week featuring over 40 different recipes ranging from comfort foods to surprising combinations, breadsticks, cheese bread and on brand sweets...," the website states.
The Columbus-based pizza joint serves 18-inch pizzas by the slice or whole pie.
The Dayton location will feature a full-service restaurant with a bar.
How Mikey’s Late Night Slice started
Mikey’s started in 2009 when Mike Sorboro was bored with the typical options of gyros and other street meats available after hours in Columbus. He launched the pizza concept in the parking lot attached to his apartment.
The pizza brand now has nine locations with most in the Columbus area. In addition to Dayton, Mikey’s is also opening a new location in Columbus at The Galaxy at Polaris.
Mikey’s will be open for lunch and dinner with expanded hours into the early morning. Most locations are open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
“Mikey’s is throwing a party and everyone’s invited.” Sorboro said. “We’ve always been dedicated to delivering unforgettable experiences, whether you’re out for a debaucherous night or looking for a sensible daytime pie. We’re beyond excited to bring the late-night flavor to Dayton, and hope you are too.”
Joining the “entertainment hub” of downtown Dayton
Mikey’s is joining the Water Street District, which is “rapidly growing into an entertainment hub for downtown Dayton,” Zach Graham, senior vice president of commercial real estate and leasing at Crawford Hoying said.
Crawford Hoying is the co-developer of the Water Street District.
“Mikey’s will be a wonderful complement to the vibrant establishments located within the district, including the recently opened Pins Mechanical Co., Foundry rooftop at the AC Hotel and Day Air Ballpark.”
